![]() ![]() Retro-bit Publishing (under license from ARC System Works and Rare) has re-released the 8-bit NES version in early 2022 with plans to release the 16-bit versions later this year. It was originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System and later ported to the Mega Drive/Genesis, Super NES, and Game Boy. So a nice fun fighting game, I would think of it more highly if I did not really want another fun fighting game.Battletoads & Double Dragon ( The Ultimate Team) is a 1993 beat ’em up developed by Rare and published by Tradewest. ![]() It was better than a lot of the early disc games though as they tend to keep repeating the same thing over and over again. Cartridge games back in the day had cool music at times, but nothing that can really challenge a disc game of today. The music is rather cool too, for a cartridge game. The graphics are rather good for a Super Nintendo game, but far from being tops as this was one of the earlier games released on the system. The fighting is rather basic and easy to do as my friends and I would plow through the enemies and sometimes each other as we battled the hordes of street thugs. Fortunately, it is a rather fun game in its own right as you can play this one co-op which was missing from at least the first Double Dragon game released on the Nintendo system. This game was the cheaper of the two, so unfortunately this is the one I got and now I can only dream about having my very own copy of this game, one of the early releases for the Super Nintendo. I got this game from my sister as a Christmas gift, sadly I wanted Street Fighter. ![]()
